Fed: Govt will consider best way to introduce pricing scheme

A grocery price website .. GROCERYchoice .. begins operation today .. as the price
we pay in grocery shops comes increasingly under scrutiny.

Yesterday .. the federal government said it would look at the best way of introducing
a mandatory national unit pricing scheme .. one of the key recommendations from the ACCC's
inquiry into grocery prices.

The Commission has found grocery retailing is workably competitive .. but restricted
by factors such as limited incentives for price competition between the major players
Coles and Woolworths.
