NSW: Hospital admits "flawed" care of girl hit by golf ball

A Sydney hospital has admitted to flaws in its care of a teenage girl .. who died after
being hit in the head by a golf ball.

In a statement to the inquest into the death of 16-year-old VANESSA ANDERSON .. Royal
North Shore Hospital said there were mistakes made in her care.

VANESSA was admitted to hospital with a fractured skull .. after she was struck by
a ball at the Asquith Golf Club in 2005.

About 40 hours after a doctor assessed her head injury as mild .. she suffered a seizure
and died.

Deputy coroner CARL MILOVANOVICH has heard senior doctors weren't kept informed about
the pain killers she was given.

Four times the therapeutic level of codeine .. and high levels of the analgesic Endone
.. were found in VANESSA'S blood.

Mr MILOVANOVICH was also told the teenager's CT scan went missing after her admission.

Outside court .. VANESSA'S father .. WARREN ANDERSON .. branded her treatment a comedy of errors.

The inquest resumes tomorrow.
