It seems Australia is a place where only a fishbowl-sized glass of a big, bold shiraz or a cauldron of Foster's will do.

But is there a sensitive, delicate side to the Aussie nature, too?

You bet. Along with exporting wines and beer to America, soon on its way in Australian quantities will be native olive oil. Watch out, Italy, Greece, France and Spain. Not only are your wineries under attack by the downunders, so are your olive groves.

There are an estimated 9 million olive trees in Australia, growing in the same broad regions across the bottom half of the continent as the vineyards. Which gives a good mind …
